Draft Animals
Horse | ||
Kihoan Desert Horse | This horse is one of the traditional desert steeds of the desert-dwellers who occupy the Kihoa region. The horse is subject to several conformational flaws, no doubt caused by inbreeding within that harsh environment, but it remains one of the best steeds if endurance and spirit is desired. The breed is famed for it's endurance, devotion to a single rider, sometimes difficult temperament and the beautiful golden sheen which is found in some specimens. It can come in just about any equine shade.
Tamoan Horse | The Tamoan horse is bred and imported in the Tamoa region where it provides one of their major exports. It has become the workhorse of choice within the empire and where pure Tamoan horses cannot be obtained a Tamoan stallion will be in high demand for it's stud services. The Tamoan horse does not have the best conformation in the world but it is extremely hardy, able to withstand extremes of temperature and to survive on poor fodder.
Camels | Camel's are farmed for meat and also for their use as draft animals. Camels's also make reasonable war mounts, mostly thanks to their ability to upset nearby horses. Camel milk is a staple food of desert nomad tribes and is richer in fat and protein than cow milk.
Donkeys | The donkey is a very popular beast of burden as donkeys require smaller amounts of feed than horses of comparable height and weight and they can easily carry 20 to 30 of their own body weight. They can also be used as a farming and dairy animal. Donkeys have a reputation for stubbornness, but this is due to some handlers' misinterpretation of their highly-developed sense of self-preservation.

Roshar Cat | This medium sized housecat is a true desert breed. It has short fur that is distinctively spotted. They are great hunting cats, great companions. They also have the semi-unique cat traits of enjoying water and wagging their tail.
Sessinan Cat | These small cats are said to have originated in the plateu areas of the empire where the temperature will often remain low. They are hardy survivors with flowing, non-matting fur, lithe bodies and the intelligence needed to survive in an unforgiving environment. It is these traits, along with their beauty, that have resulted in them being named after the great hero Sessina. They are an active breed that is seemingly unafraid of heights, water or challenges to their demands. Highly intelligent, the Sessinan will often figure out just how to get her favorite toy or treat back after it has been removed. They have a soft and mild voice. |
Dogs
Lap Dog | These hardy little dogs are usually tan in colour, although other colours are sometimes available. It has a long straight coat, a squat build and long, heavily feathered ears. These dogs make exceptionally watchdogs and they have sweet, affectionate natures to those within the family. They can be rather aloof and watchful of strangers.
